I'm trying to build a website from scratch but atm I can't figure out how to set up the style of frames I want.

I need to set frames for a header, space on the left (Blank space), The main material frame, the navigation bar frame, and space on the right (Blank also)

Basically I need to have the site be 800 px wide but all centered. I would be able to do it with <frameset> but it only allows 3 frames.

I was hoping someone here knows another way to do frames. I basically want the same setup as my brothers website, http://www.theninjahacker.com

But I just cant for the life of me figure it out.

If anyone could do this for me that would be great.
Also, it has to be done through FTP. I dont have a control panel yet.

First off, FTP > cPanel. More power when it comes to making website changes and stuff.

Also, you'll want to stay away from frames IMO, and pick up on some CSS scripting, as you can do things identical if not better with it over frames. I would suggest learning about some of the basics from http://w3schools.com/ , they have a lot of useful lessons and reference material there, I've used it often in the past to figure out a lot.

That, and I can help you with how to do this/that/etc, as can a few others here too. I mostly know PHP and CSS, and I can even give you a quick CSS example on how to make a layout similar to your brother's site, if needed.

You brother is using Wordpress. If you want that setup and that usability, you just need to install the thing on your site.

It's pretty simple. Just set up a database and upload the directories / run the install script on your PHP enabled site and you'll have a usable program going.

Check http://www.diseasedmedia.com if you want to check out my setup.

So I was going to post a new topic, then I noticed this one was still here, so I'm reopening it.

I am working on creating my own wordpress theme. I still want something simple like my brothers website in the first post, but I dont know how to go about doing that.

I've tried rolling around through other themes and trying to figure out how they do it, but no luck yet.

So far, what I've done, is create this theme from scratch, by following a tutorial. http://www.worldrandom.net

I would love for someone to kinda give me step by step help when they can to guide me in the correct direction to creating the backgrounds and borders and such.

EDIT: I forgot to add that all of the coding in my layout is in PHP, XHTML and CSS, as far as I know. Its mainly PHP and CSS. My biggest issue atm is making it look good and creating backgrounds and banners and such, and working them into each other.

HTML code allows creating vertical and horizontal frameset.
Frames allow combining two or more HTML documents within the limits of a single browser window. Each HTML document of these is referred to as an independent frame.
There are some disadvantages of using framesets. At first, HTML developer should control more HTML documents. The second, such page is difficult to print.
The <frame> tag is used to point out which HTML document should be put into frame.

*Important note. In case the frame has borders that are visible to user, user can resize it. To forbid doing this, add <noresize> to the <frame> tag.
Some browsers may not support frames. The <noframes> tag should be added for such cases.

*Important note: the <body></body> tags must not be used with <frame> tags. But in case <noframes> tag is present in the page code, <body></body> must be added.
Example from php tutorial
Frame–related tags:
<frameset> is used to define a set of frames
<frame> defines a single frame
<noframes> is used for browsers that do not support frames
<iframe> is used for inline frame
